Privacy Policy

We take the protection of your personal data seriously. This policy explains what data we process when you visit this website and use pasteAI, on what legal basis, and which rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Hosting and server log files

When you visit this website, our hosting provider automatically collects and stores information that your browser transmits to us in server log files:

• IP address of the requesting device,
• date and time of the request,
• the page/file requested and the amount of data transferred,
• browser type and version, and operating system,
• the referrer URL (the previously visited page).

This data is processed to ensure a secure, stable and functional website. The legal basis is our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our website is hosted by [hosting provider — please insert name and address], with whom we have concluded a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

3. No external content delivery networks

We deliberately serve fonts, icon files, stylesheets and scripts from our own servers. We do not load these resources from third-party content delivery networks, so your IP address is not transmitted to such providers simply by viewing our pages. The only third-party script we load is the payment script described below, and only on the checkout page.

4. The pasteAI application

In connection with the desktop application we process:

• Text you submit for enhancement: only the text you explicitly trigger (by triple-copy) is sent for processing. When you use cloud processing, the text is transmitted over an encrypted connection to the configured AI provider, processed, and returned. It is not permanently stored on our servers. When you use a local model (Ollama), the text never leaves your device.
• Account email address: if you create a pasteAI account (e.g. to buy credits), we store your email address to manage your credit balance and send transactional messages. Legal basis: performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
• API keys and clipboard history: these are stored locally on your device, not on our servers.

5. Payment processing (Stripe)

Payments for credits are handled by our payment service provider Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, Ireland). When you make a purchase, the payment data you enter (e.g. name, email, card or payment details) is processed directly by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card details. Stripe may transfer data to Stripe, Inc. in the USA. Such transfers are safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and Stripe's certification under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, and our legitimate interest in secure, efficient payment processing and fraud prevention, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Details are available in Stripe's Privacy Policy.

6. Legal bases for processing

• Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — your consent (where requested);
• Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps;
• Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR — compliance with a legal obligation (e.g. tax retention);
• Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interests (e.g. security, fraud prevention).

7. Data retention

• Server log files: deleted or anonymized after a short period.
• Account data: kept until you delete your account or request deletion.
• Invoices and payment records: retained for the statutory periods (generally up to 10 years under German commercial and tax law).
• Submitted text for cloud enhancement: not permanently stored.

8. International data transfers

Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA (for example to AI or payment providers in the USA), we rely on appropriate safeguards under Chapter V GDPR, in particular the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, certification under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. When you use local processing via Ollama, no data is transferred.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Access (Art. 15) — obtain a copy of your personal data;
• Rectification (Art. 16) — correct inaccurate data;
• Erasure (Art. 17) — have your data deleted;
• Restriction (Art. 18) — limit processing;
• Data portability (Art. 20) — receive your data in a machine-readable format;
• Object (Art. 21) — object to processing based on legitimate interests;
• Withdraw consent (Art. 7(3)) — at any time, with effect for the future.

10. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority competent for us is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany. You may also contact the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use only cookies that are strictly necessary for the operation of the website and for secure payment processing.

Because we use only technically necessary cookies within the meaning of § 25(2) TDDDG (Telekommunikation-Digitale-Dienste-Datenschutz-Gesetz), we do not require your prior consent for them. We do not use any analytics, marketing or tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect payment functionality.

Terms of Service

1. Scope and provider

These terms govern the use of the pasteAI application and the purchase of cloud credits from LimTec GmbH ("we", "us"). Provider details are set out in our Impressum.

2. Services

pasteAI is software that enhances text you submit, either via a local model (Ollama) or via a cloud AI provider. Local use is free. Cloud processing uses credits; new accounts receive complimentary starter credits, and additional credits can be purchased.

3. Contract formation and prices

By entering your email address, confirming the required consent and clicking the "Buy now – payment required" button, you submit a binding offer to purchase the displayed credit package. The contract is concluded when we confirm the purchase or provide the credits. The price is €1 for 100,000 credits, including statutory VAT. We send an order confirmation to your email address on a durable medium.

4. Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. The amount is due immediately upon conclusion of the contract. Credits are added to your account balance after successful payment.

5. Right of withdrawal

Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal. Please see the separate Right of Withdrawal section below, including the conditions under which this right expires for digital content.

6. Availability and statutory rights

The service is provided with reasonable care but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, as cloud processing depends on third-party providers. Your statutory rights as a consumer (including warranty rights for digital products under §§ 327 ff. BGB) remain unaffected.

7. Your obligations

• Use the service only for lawful purposes;
• Comply with the terms of any third-party AI provider you configure (e.g. OpenAI);
• Keep your account credentials and any API keys secure;
• Do not submit content that infringes the rights of others or violates applicable law.

8. Liability

We are liable without limitation for damages arising from injury to life, body or health, for intent and gross negligence, under the German Product Liability Act, and to the extent we have given a guarantee. In cases of slight negligence we are liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation (an obligation whose fulfilment is essential to the proper performance of the contract and on which you may regularly rely), and such liability is limited to the foreseeable, contract-typical damage. Any further liability is excluded.

9. Term and termination

You may stop using the application and delete your account at any time. Purchased credits do not expire unless stated otherwise; statutory limitation periods apply.

10. Governing law and dispute resolution

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer habitually resident in the EU, you also enjoy the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.

We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG).

Right of Withdrawal (for consumers)

If you are a consumer, you have the right to withdraw from this contract as set out below.

Right of withdrawal

You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is 14 days from the day of the conclusion of the contract.

To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must inform us

by means of a clear statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or an email) of your decision to withdraw from this contract. You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory. To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient to send your communication concerning the exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Consequences of withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments received from you without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed of your decision to withdraw. We will use the same means of payment you used for the original transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise; in no event will you be charged any fees for this reimbursement.

Third-party services

AI providers

• When using a cloud AI provider (e.g. OpenAI), your use is also subject to that provider's terms and privacy policy. For OpenAI, see their Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
• Ollama (local): with local processing, no text is sent to external services. Subject to Ollama's license.

Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe; see the Privacy Policy and Stripe's Privacy Policy.
